# sk126252 - Windows recovery screen appears after installing Windows cumulative updates

## Symptoms

- * After the user installs Windows cumulative updates, a Windows recovery screen appears. The recovery screen loop prevents the user from booting up Windows.
* When there is a pre-boot screen, there is no problem passing it, but then Windows fails to load.

## Cause

The FDE UEFI bootloader was overwritten after the user installed Windows updates.

The bootloader was not changed from the default bootloader to BCDBOOT (as per [sk120667](https://supportcenter.checkpoint.com/supportcenter/portal?eventSubmit_doGoviewsolutiondetails=&solutionid=sk120667)).
