# sk123337 - IP address not being applied to Sync interfaces and not showing in ifconfig output of VSX ClusterXL

## Symptoms

- * IP address not being applied to Sync interfaces and not showing in ifconfig output of VSX ClusterXL.

* Traffic from the VSX ClusterXL Standby member is being dropped by the Active member.  

  Running kernel debug (fw ctl zdebug drop) on the Active member, the following drop log is seen:  


  `dropped by fwha_forw_run Reason: Failed to send to another cluster member;`

* The MAC address of Sync interface is not being updated because there is no IP address defined on this interface.

* The /config/active file shows:  

  ```
  
  dhcp:dhcpc:interface: t
  dhcp:dhcpc:interface::timeout 60
  dhcp:dhcpc:interface::retry 300
  dhcp:dhcpc:interface::reboot 10
  ```

## Cause

The sync interface was configured as a DHCP client. As a result, the configured static IP is not used and the interface expects to be assigned an IP from a DHCP server.
