# sk123239 - Cannot edit a Security Gateway object's name

## Symptoms

- When the user attempts to edit the name of a Security Gateway or cluster object, nothing changes (other edits, such as of a blade or a configuration, do work).

## Cause

It is not possible to edit the name of an object while SIC is established or initiated.

## Solution

1. Reset SIC on the object but do not attempt to initialize it.
2. Do not enter a password. Instead, hit **cancel**. You will be prompted with a message stating that this action will leave the device uninitialized. This is acceptable.
3. Edit the name of the object.

When you press **OK** and save the changes, you may be prompted to make additional changes to the IPSec VPN blade.

1. Remove the object from the community and disable the IPSec VPN blade.
2. Do not install the policy on any other Security Gateway that may be used within the community until you have saved the name change and gone back into the object to revert the IPSec VPN changes you previously made.
