# sk121632 - High CPU utilization after upgrade to R77.30

## Symptoms

- * High CPU utilization after upgrade to R77.30

* Output of `top` command shows:

  ```
  
  top - 11:37:29 up  2:07,  2 users,  load average: 3.68, 4.27, 4.22
  Tasks: 119 total,   2 running, 117 sleeping,   0 stopped,   0 zombie
  Cpu0  :  0.3%us,  1.3%sy,  0.0%ni,  0.0%id, 98.3%wa,  0.0%hi,  0.0%si,  0.0%st
  Cpu1  :  0.3%us,  1.0%sy,  0.0%ni,  0.0%id, 98.3%wa,  0.0%hi,  0.3%si,  0.0%st
  ```

* The `/var/log/messages` file is corrupted:

  ```
  
  #cat messages 
  - Input/output error
  ```

* `cpstop/cpstart` or reboot does not fix the problem and there is enough space available under `/var/log` and `/root` partitions.

## Cause

* System fails to write an information to */var/log/messages*
* Newly created *messages* file shows that the RAID monitoring SNMP trap was enabled and disabled afterwards.
