# sk121475 - "Generic_internal_error� message when running various API commands

## Symptoms

- "generic_internal_error" message reports `Internal error. For more info search for incident [xyz] in log file` for the following API commands:  
`show-access-rulebase with "details-level" flag set to "full"`  
`show vpn-community-meshed`  
`show vpn-community-star`  
`show vpn-communities-meshed with "details-level" flag set to "full"`  
`show vpn-communities-star with "details-level" flag set to "full"`

## Cause

The shared secret configuration in the VPN community's database is corrupted, containing an object with an empty, externally managed gateway field. As a result, the Management API code fails to correctly process the API commands.
