# sk121380 - BGP routes removed when peer adjacency is lost

## Symptoms

- * Failing over from the active cluster member to the standby, results in losing the BGP routes with graceful restart enabled, seen in the `"show route BGP"` command output.
* Adjacencies are lost between the BGP peers.

## Cause

When failing over and/or adjacencies are lost between the Check Point Security Gateway and the BGP peer. The BGP routes state changes from "BGP" to "Kernel", until the BGP peer adjacency is restored or the timeout for graceful restart is reached, where the routes then expire.
