## Symptoms

- * In SmartConsole \> "Gateways \& Servers", when selecting a Security Gateway and in the bottom panel clicking "Device \& Licensing Information" \> "License Status", it shows the message "`No license`" (or "`Error: No valid contract(s)`") for the "Monitoring" Blade, although this Software Blade is disabled.

  Example:

* This message may appear for other Software Blades.

## Cause

There are two possible reasons for this problem:

* Incorrect entry about the active Software Blade in the configuration file.
* The evaluation license was used to activate the "Monitor" Software Blade on the R7x Security Management Server. During the upgrade, this old license was moved to the Security Management Server, and it expired after the upgrade.
