# sk120537 - FWM process on Multi-Domain Server does not start

## Symptoms

- * The FWM process on the Multi-Domain Server (MDS) shows "down" status; all Domain Management Servers show the FWM process as "up".
* Next Generation Security Management (NGSM) licensing and legacy Software Blade licensing are installed on the same Multi-Domain Management server.
* If the user tries to enable FWM for MDS, the following license error appears: `
  #fwm mds
  License Problem : The license you are using for this management either cannot be used for Multi domain server, or has expired`.

## Cause

In October, 2016, Check Point introduced the new Next Generation Security Management licensing. The use of this licensing requires that two components be installed on the Multi-Domain Server:

1. CPSM-NGSM
2. CPSM-DOMAINS-x (where "x") is the total number of allowed Domains)

The issue described above occurs when one of the two license components is missing from the Multi-Domain Server.

## Solution

To resolve the issue, generate and install a new license so that both components are installed.
