# sk116582 - "Get Interfaces" in the Cluster object does not update the Topology after changing a physical interface to a VLAN interface with the same IP address, or vice versa

| Platform | Smart-1 |

## Symptoms

- * Topology in the cluster object is not updated in the following scenario in R80 SmartConsole:

  1. Configure cluster members with physical interfaces (no VLAN interfaces)
  2. Configure a cluster object and check its "Topology" configuration - as expected, only physical interfaces are shown
  3. On the cluster members, remove an IP address from some physical interface (e.g., Sync - eth3)
  4. On the cluster members, on that physical interface (e.g., Sync - eth3) add a VLAN interface (e.g., eth3.200)
  5. On the cluster members, assign the same IP address that was previously assigned to the underlying physical interface (e.g., Sync - eth3) to that VLAN interface (e.g., eth3.200)
  6. In the cluster object, go to the "Topology" pane - click on the "Get Interfaces" button
  7. The "Topology" configuration is not updated to show the new VLAN interface (e.g., eth3.200) with its IP address - still shows that underlying physical interface (e.g., Sync - eth3) with its IP address
* Topology in the cluster object is not updated in the following scenario in R80 SmartConsole:

  1. Configure cluster members with at least one VLAN interface (e.g., eth3.200) on some physical interface (e.g., Sync - eth3)
  2. Configure a cluster object and check its "Topology" configuration
  3. On the cluster members, remove an IP address from that VLAN interface (e.g., eth3.200)
  4. On the cluster members, assign the same IP address that was previously assigned to the VLAN interface (e.g., eth3.200) to the underlying physical interface (e.g., Sync - eth3)
  5. In the cluster object, go to the "Topology" pane - click on the "Get Interfaces" button
  6. The "Topology" configuration is not updated to show the underlying physical interface (e.g., Sync - eth3) with its IP address - still shows that VLAN interface (e.g., eth3.200) with its IP address
* There are no errors in SmartDashboard after clicking on the "Get Interfaces" button.

## Cause

Internal naming issue in the management database (during Gateway Network creation) on an R80 Security Management Server / Domain Management Server.

## Solution

This problem was fixed. The fix is included in:

* [Check Point R80.10](https://supportcenter.checkpoint.com/supportcenter/portal?eventSubmit_doGoviewsolutiondetails=&solutionid=sk111841)
* [R80.20.M1 Management Release](https://supportcenter.checkpoint.com/supportcenter/portal?eventSubmit_doGoviewsolutiondetails=&solutionid=sk123473)

For **R80 version** , [Check Point Support](http://www.checkpoint.com/support-services/contact-support/index.html) can supply a **Hotfix** .
A Support Engineer will make sure the Hotfix is compatible with your environment before providing the Hotfix.
For faster resolution and verification, please collect [CPInfo files](https://supportcenter.checkpoint.com/supportcenter/portal?eventSubmit_doGoviewsolutiondetails=&solutionid=sk92739) from the R80 Security Management Server and Security Gateways involved in the case.

**Hotfix installation instructions:**

1. Hotfix has to be installed on ***R80 Security Management Server / Multi-Domain Security Management Server***.

**Note:** In Management HA environment, this procedure must be performed on *both* Management Servers.
2. Install the hotfix using CPUSE:

Make sure to install the [latest build of the CPUSE Agent](https://supportcenter.checkpoint.com/supportcenter/portal?eventSubmit_doGoviewsolutiondetails=&solutionid=sk92449#Latest build of CPUSE and What's New).

Refer to [sk92449: CPUSE - Gaia Software Updates (including Gaia Software Updates Agent)](https://supportcenter.checkpoint.com/supportcenter/portal?eventSubmit_doGoviewsolutiondetails=&solutionid=sk92449#How to work with CPUSE):

   * Section "[(4-B-a)](https://supportcenter.checkpoint.com/supportcenter/portal?eventSubmit_doGoviewsolutiondetails=&solutionid=sk92449#How to work with CPUSE - How to install a CPUSE package - Installing a Hotfix package / Minor Version package)" - refer to installation instructions for *Hotfixes*

   **Note:** Reboot is required.

The following ***workaround*** is available in R80 SmartConsole:

**Important Note:** Export the current management database / collect a complete backup.

1. Open the Cluster object
2. Go to the "Topology" pane
3. Write down the entire configuration of each interface (IP addresses / subnet masks / QoS / Multicast / etc.)
4. Remove all interfaces from the "Topology" pane
5. Click on the "Get Interfaces" button - the correct updated configuration should be fetched from cluster members
6. Configure the Virtual IP addresses and other required settings (QoS / Multicast / etc.)
7. Publish your session
8. Install the policy
