# sk116232 - IDAPI module error message when running  kernel debug on Security Gateway with Identity Awareness

## Symptoms

- * When trying to enable kernel debug on the IDAPI module `(# fw ctl debug -m IDAPI)` on non-VSX Security Gateway, the following message appears:  
  `Unknown kernel debugging module IDAPI`
* When trying to enable kernel debug on the IDAPI module `(# fw ctl debug -m IDAPI)` on VSX Security Gateway, the following messages appears:  
  `kiss_debug_all_vs_ioctl: ioctl failed to vs X `  
  `
  : No such device or address `  
  `
  Unknown kernel debugging module IDAPI`

## Cause

The IDAPI module is an interface module between the Identity Awareness and other blades which need to use Identity Awareness. The IDAPI module becomes available when turning on Application Control and / or URL Filtering blades.
