## Symptoms

- * "negotiation with site failed" error when (locally defined) users with pre-shared key (PSK) fail to login using Remote Access VPN Client (Endpoint Connect, SecuRemote, etc...).
* Deleting the PSK and using "Check Point password" as the authentication method works.

## Cause

In R80, CPM does not obscure the *isakmp.shared.secret* field. It stores it in "cleartext" in the database.

During authentication, it takes this "clear" value and compares it with its obscured value (from the Remote Access Client). Because this is not a match, authentication fails.
