# sk114823 - "The current subordinate CA does not lead to a trusted CA, and it will not appear in the enrollment CAs list" error when creating a subordinate object

## Symptoms

- * In SmartConsole \> Servers \> More \> subordinate CA, when importing the external CA certificate , the following error message is received:  
  `"The current subordinate CA does not lead to a trusted CA, and it will not appear in the enrollment CAs list."`
* fwm debug log is showing the following error message:  
  `[DATE TIME] fw_VerifySigned: unsupported algorithm`  
  `
  [DATE TIME] fwCert_FixChain_do: didn't find cert in CA that matches chain top`

## Cause

An un-supported alogarithm was used in the external CA certificate signature.
