# sk114531 - Configuring Proxy ARP for Manual Static NAT on Spark Firewall

## Symptoms

- After creating a Manual Static NAT for a Host, the Quantum Spark appliance does not answer ARP Requests for the NATed IP address of that Host.

## Cause

When Host "A" from the Network "A" needs to send traffic to Host "B" from the Network "B", Host "A" sends an ARP Request to get the MAC Address of Host "B".

As ARP request is a broadcast traffic. By design, routers do not forward broadcast traffic.

As a result, Host "A" does not get the MAC address of Host "B" and cannot send traffic to Host "B".
