# sk114212 - Synchronization in cluster is broken after moving the "1st Sync" Network Objective to an interface that was defined as "Non-Monitored Private"

## Symptoms

- * Synchronization in cluster is broken after moving the "`1st Sync`" Network Objective to another interface:

  1. In SmartDashboard, open the cluster object
  2. Go to *Topology* pane - click on *Edit...* button
  3. For the current interface with "`1st Sync`" Network Objective, select the "`Cluster`" Network Objective
  4. For the interface with "`Non-Monitored Private`" Network Objective, select the "`1st Sync`" Network Objective
  5. Click on OK
  6. Install policy
  7. Synchronization in cluster is broken at this point
  8. Output of "`cphaprob -a if`" command shows that the new configuration was applied only partially:
     * interface that was defined with "`1st Sync`" Network Objective is shown as "`UP`" and as "`non sync(non secured)`"
     * interface that was defined with "`Non-Monitored Private`" Network Objective and now is defined with "`1st Sync`" Network Objective is still shown as "`Disconnected`" and as "`sync(secured)`"
* *Example* - "Sync" interface was the "`1st Sync`", and "eth1-01" interface was "`Non-Monitored Private`" and was re-defined as new "`1st Sync`":

  ```
  Required interfaces: 3
  Required secured interfaces: 1
  Mgmt       Disconnected          non sync(non secured), broadcast
  Sync       UP                    non sync(non secured), broadcast
  eth1-01    Disconnected          sync(secured), broadcast
  ```

## Cause

A "Non-Monitored Private" interface is not monitored by ClusterXL. It is handled like a disconnected interface.

Changing a "`Non-Monitored Private`" interface to be "`1st Sync`" is not supported directly.
