# sk113932 - "VSX object name; is used by another object and cannot be deleted" error in R80.x SmartConsole when attempting to delete a newly created VSX object

## Symptoms

- * "`<VSX object name> is used by another object and cannot be deleted`" error in R80 SmartConsole when attempting to delete a newly created VSX object (Virtual System, Virtual Router, VSX Gateway / VSX Cluster).

* The involved VSX object has not been placed in any rule or any group object.

## Cause

* Before deleting a Virtual System, Virtual Router, or VSX Gateway, the IPS blade must be disabled in the VSX Gateway object and VSX configuration must be pushed.
* Everytime a VSX object is created, a policy for VSX is automatically generated.

## Solution

This problem was fixed. The fix is included in:

Check Point recommends to always upgrade to the most recent version ([VSX](https://supportcenter.checkpoint.com/supportcenter/portal?eventSubmit_doShowproductpage&productTab=downloads&product=359))

If you do not wish to upgrade, follow these steps:

1. **In case IPS blade is enabled**- Disabled the IPS blade in VSX Gateway / VSX Cluster object:

   1. Open the VSX Gateway / VSX Cluster object

   2. On the "`General Properties`" pane, clear the box "`IPS`"

   3. Click on OK to push the VSX configuration (requires established SIC)

2. Delete the VSX policy that was automatically generated:

   1. Go to the ***Application menu*** - click on ***Manage policies...***

   2. Select the VSX policy that was automatically generated - click on ***Delete***

   3. Click on ***Close***
