# sk113401 - Capsule VPN for Windows 10 failing to connect when using certificate

## Symptoms

- * Capsule VPN for Windows 10 failing to connect when using certificate.
* Error seen on Capsule Plug-in:"Authentication failed. Certificate authentication is not supported by this server. Contact the system administrator"

* Error seen on Capsule Plug-in:"Can't connect to x.x.x.x".
* *vpnd.elg* output:  
  "Certificate authentication is not enabled on the gateway object under the blade's authentication settings"  
  Or  
  "AuthenticationServices::CertAuthnRequestHandler auth Method = 3 , cert not allowed for SSL."

## Cause

In 'Policy \> Global Properties \> Remote Access \> SecureClient Mobile / SSL Network Extender': Authentication method is set to "Legacy". This does not allow certificate authentication.

Authentication method should be changed to "Certificate" or "Mixed".
