## Symptoms

- * When opening a new tab in SmartConsole, this error appears:

  `SmartView is not available`

  `SmartView server certificate is invalid`

  Example:

* The SmartView web page does not open when a client computer has an IP address from a different subnet than the Management Server:

  `https://<IP Address of Management Server>/smartview/`

## Cause

There is an HTTPS Inspection rule (or another 3rd party SSL Inspection tool) between the Management Server / Log Server / SmartEvent Server to which SmartConsole is connected and the client running SmartConsole. This HTTPS Inspection / SSL Inspection rule is matching the source and destination of the SmartConsole Client and the Management Server / Log Server / SmartEvent Server, which is matching a Site Category.

Having an HTTPS Inspection rule, either as the same rule or a rule before it to match the Site category, requires the HTTPS Inspection to begin the inspection on the packet to determine whether it is actually matching. This also applies if the rule is configured to Bypass the connection.

This causes the packet to already be affected by the inspection, and the Certificate transferring between the SmartConsole Client and the Server to be invalid when it reaches to the SmartView.
