# sk112070 - Output of "ifconfig" command in the context of Virtual Router on VSX Cluster members shows different IP address on the Warp interface than was assigned in SmartDashboard

## Symptoms

- Output of "ifconfig" command in the context of Virtual Router on VSX Cluster members shows different IP address ("Funny IP") on the Warp interface than was assigned in SmartDashboard:

1. Connect to command line on VSX Cluster member
2. Log in to Expert mode
3. Get the list of all Virtual Devices: *vsx stat -v*
4. Switch to the context of Virtual Router: *vsenv \<VSID\>*
5. Get the list of interfaces and their IP addresses: *ifconfig*
6. IP address displayed on the Warp interface ("Funny IP") differs from the IP address that was assigned in SmartDashboard

*Example* (in the context of Virtual Router, the IP address displayed on *wrpj128* is a "Funny IP"):

## Cause

This is a *cosmetic* issue.

When a Virtual Device (Virtual System / Virtual Router / Virtual Switch / Virtual System in Bridge Mode) is created in a VSX Cluster object via SmartDashboard / SmartConsole, the relevant VSX configuration is pushed to all VSX Cluster members.

Some VSX settings are configured on VSX Cluster members only during policy installation (e.g., IP address that will be displayed by the *ifconfig* command).

By default, Virtual Router device always has its default policy, which is automatically installed when any change is made in Virtual Router object (interfaces / routes).

In case another Virtual Device is connected to Virtual Router via Warp connection, the VSX configuration is pushed to both the Virtual Router and the connected Virtual Device. However, the default policy for Virtual Router is not installed automatically. As a result, output of "ifconfig" command in the context of Virtual Router displays "Funny IP".
