# sk111939 - "Failed to send command to the Domain Management Server" error in the SmartDashboard when creating a Virtual System on the Target Domain Management Server

## Symptoms

- * "`Failed to send command to the Domain Management Server`" error in the SmartDashboard when creating a Virtual System on *Target* the Domain Management Server.

* Debug of FWM daemon on the *Target* Domain Management Server (per [sk33207](https://supportcenter.checkpoint.com/supportcenter/portal?eventSubmit_doGoviewsolutiondetails=&solutionid=sk33207) and [sk31874](https://supportcenter.checkpoint.com/supportcenter/portal?eventSubmit_doGoviewsolutiondetails=&solutionid=sk31874)) shows:

  `There is no connection from the Multi-Domain Server to Domain Management Server <Name of the Domain Management Server>`  
  `
  :cpmi_cmd_status_text ("Failed to send command to Domain Management Server")`
* Issue occurred after restoring the Multi-Domain Server from "mds backup".

## Cause

The VSX object should contain a reference to the Domain that contains the Domain Management Server, which manages the VSX Gateway / VSX Cluster.

In case that reference is missing from the ***main_customer*** field , the connection to the Main Domain Management Server would fail.
