# sk111891 -  RouteD daemon might crash when PIM packets are received in an un-supported IP format group

## Symptoms

- * Traffic outage / interruptions after configuring PIM.

* After enabling generation of core dump files per [sk92764](http://supportcontent.checkpoint.com/solutions?id=sk92764), core dump files for '*RouteD* ' process were generated in the */var/log/dump/usermode/* directory.

## Cause

PIM packets were received using an un-supported IP format group (e.g., using AppleTalk).

As of R80.10 release, the only supported IP format groups are IPv4 and IPv6 ([Address Family Numbers](http://www.iana.org/assignments/address-family-numbers/address-family-numbers.xhtml) 1 and 2).
