# sk111882 - Threat Emulation blade is not functional, and Contracts are showing as expired, although expiration date has not been reached

## Symptoms

- * Threat Emulation blade on Security Gateway does not function.
* When installing policy on the Security Gateway, the user is prompted with a warning for expired blade contracts for Threat Emulation Products (most notably Anti-Virus / Anti-Bot).
* Viewing Gateway status in SmartView monitor shows the selected Security Gateway is in a problem state, and also show that the blade contracts for Anti-Bot / Anti-Virus are expired, even though the expiry date has not been met.
* Threat Emulation is set for local emulation, but a sandbox appliance is not used.

## Cause

Threat Emulation licenses are different for Local and Cloud based Threat Emulation. When trying to define local emulation, but have a license for cloud based (or vice versa), the above symptoms will be seen.
