# sk111537 - "Authentication to Server x.x.x.x failed" error when logging in to SmartDomain fails

| Property | Value |

| Solution ID | sk111537 |
| Date Created | 2016-05-16 |
| Last Modified | 2016-06-24 |
| Technical Level | Advanced |
| Products | Multi-Domain Security Management Server |
| Versions | R82.10, R82.x, R81.20, R82, R82.20 |
| OS | Gaia |

## Symptoms

- * "Authentication to Server x.x.x.x failed" error when failing to log in to the SmartDomain Manager.

* FWM debug on MDS level shows:

  ```
  fwm_check_user_expiration_date: administrator's account has expired.
  Type:eFtCstring, Value:Administrator failed to log in: Account has expired
  fwm_log: Login failed from <IP address> : Authentication Failed
  ```

## Cause

The '*expiration_date* ' value in the *$MDSDIR/conf/mdsdb/objects_5_0.C* file is expired, therefore every user that will be created, will contain the already expired date in its attributes and will be unable to log in to the SmartDomain Manager.
