# sk111107 - "Failed to connect: The site does not allow rooted device" error on Android with Capsule VPN when the device is not "rooted"

## Symptoms

- * Upon entering the Capsule VPN Credentials, the user gets a message:  
  `"Failed to connect: The site does not allow rooted devices"`.
* On the device, running the command 'su' in terminal session, gives error `"command not found"`.
* On the device, 3rd party "Root Checker" app indicate that root is not installed.
* The device has a non-OEM ROM installed and running

## Cause

Capsule's root checking process also validates the ROM in use. In case it is not signed by a valid vendor, it will show the error.
