# sk110939 - Configuring PIM Sparse Mode with dynamic Rendezvous Point (RP) fails in cluster environment

## Symptoms

- * Configuring PIM Sparse Mode with dynamic Rendezvous Point (RP) fails in cluster environment.

* "`RTGRTG0019 PIM: the IP address must be an IPV4 local address matching a PIM interface or a loopback address not in 127.0.0.0/8`" error when executing the following Clish commands:

  * *set pim candidate-rp local-address \<Cluster_VIP_Address\>*
  * *set pim bootstrap-candidate local-address \<Cluster_VIP_Address\>*
* Using the Cluster VIP address in Gaia Portal for Candidate Rendezvous Point / Bootstrap Router fails as well.

* The Gaia Portal "PIM" page (in "Advanced Routing" section) hangs/freezes when configuring ClusterXL as PIM Router + Dynamic Rendezvous Point + Bootstrap Router (per [sk100239](https://supportcenter.checkpoint.com/supportcenter/portal?eventSubmit_doGoviewsolutiondetails=&solutionid=sk100239) - section "(3-2-C)").  

  If users cancels the configuration, then all options on the "PIM" page become grayed out.

## Cause

Interface validation fails.

1. Cluster VIP addresses are not treated as interfaces capable of running PIM.
2. Defined IPv4 address are not fully validated to belong to a PIM-enabled interface.
