# sk110136 - Version upgrade is overriding the Endpoint Security client trac.defaults file

## Symptoms

- * Whenever an Admin chooses to upgrade the Endpoint Security Client version using SmartEndpoint \> Deployment \> Software Deployment Rules, trac.defaults is being overwritten to the default.
* Loss of any relevant custom configurations of trac.defaults on all the upgraded Client machines (which were previously deployed using VPN Client Configuration Utility or otherwise were manually customized).

## Cause

This behavior is by design. It includes installations of any hotfix build.
