## Symptoms

- * "`Invalid number: 1. Not in range 2..4094`" error when configuring VLAN with ID 1 in Gaia Clish.

* "`Invalid number: 1. Not in range 2..4094`" error when trying to trunk VLANs together with VLAN 1 in Gaia Clish.

* "`The following tabs have invalid configuration: VLAN`" error when configuring VLAN with ID 1 in Gaia Portal.

## Cause

This is the design of Gaia OS:

* The valid range for VLAN IDs is from 2 to 4094.
* The values 0 and 4095 are reserved by the IEEE standard.
* VLAN ID 1 is reserved by convention.
* There is no default VLAN.
