## Symptoms

- When a Security Gateway is configured with PIM and has numerous VLAN interfaces configured, the interface information can congest the */var/log/messages file*, causing them to rotate frequently and lose system data.

For example:

DATE firewall routed[PID]: PIM: attempt to add iif eth1-01.1234 to oif list for s=[IP Addr],g=[IP Addr]
DATE firewall routed[PID]: igmp_recv_leave_group: ignoring leave group from [IP Addr], group [IP Addr] is not in active group database
DATE firewall routed[PID]: igmp_recv_leave_group: ignoring leave group from [IP Addr], group [IP Addr] is not in active group database

## Cause

By default, RouteD syslog messages are written in the */var/log/messages* file.
