# sk109615 - Routing issues on Gaia OS when PPPoE peer is set as the default gateway

## Symptoms

- * Routing issues when PPPoE peer is set as the default gateway:  
  * Either in Gaia Portal:  
    When adding a PPPoE interface - check the box "Use Peer as Default Gateway"
  * Or in Gaia Clish:  
    *HostName\> add pppoe client id NUMBER interface IFNAME user-name USERNAME password PASSWORDD use-peer-dns \<on\|off\> use-peer-as-default-gateway on*   
    *HostName\> save config*
* Output of Clish command "*show route*" does not show any routes.

* Outputs of Expert commands "*netstat -rn* " and "*route -n*" do not show routes that were added after configuring PPPoE interface and setting PPPoE peer is set as the default gateway.

* */var/log/messages* file shows that RouteD daemon is constantly restarting, and shows the following error message:  

  `routed.conf:14 syntax error at 'end-of-statement'`  

  `Line 14 on /etc/routed.conf shows: "default gateway ;"`

## Cause

Although PPPoE peer is set as the default gateway, the default gateway configuration is missing. As a result, RouteD daemon fails to initialize and to apply the configuration from the */etc/routed.conf* file.
