## Symptoms

- * Not able to authenticate with RADIUS user directly in SmartConsole clients in distributed Multi-Domain environment:

  * Multi-Domain Security Management Server is installed on one machine
  * Log Server / SmartEvent Server / SmartReporter Server / SmartLog Server is installed on another machine
  * Authentication with RADIUS user in SmartDomain Manager / SmartDashboard succeeds, and opening the relevant SmartConsole client (SmartView Tracker/SmartEvent/SmartReporter/SmartLog) works as expected
  * Authentication with RADIUS user in SmartConsole client (SmartView Tracker/SmartEvent/SmartReporter/SmartLog) fails when connecting directly to Log Server / SmartEvent Server / SmartReporter Server / SmartLog Server
* Traffic capture on TCP port 1812 (RADIUS authentication) on the server, to which the user is trying to connect, shows only outgoing "Access Request" from that server. There are no incoming "Access Accept" response packets.

## Cause

When authenticating with RADIUS user in SmartDomain Manager / SmartDashboard, connection to RADIUS server is established from the IP address of the Multi-Domain Security Management Server. Since the user is already authenticated, opening the relevant SmartConsole client succeeds as well (authentication token is passed).

When authenticating with RADIUS user in SmartConsole client during direct connection to distributed servers, connection to RADIUS server is established from the IP address of that distributed server. If the relevant distributed server is not defined as a client on RADIUS server, then RADIUS server does not respond.
