# sk109173 - "You have defined the gateway's encryption domain using its valid addresses, but you have not defined these addresses"

## Symptoms

- * When editing a security gateway object in SmartDashboard, the following message pops up: "You have defined the gateway's encryption domain using its valid addresses, but you have not defined these addresses. Define valid addresses by editing the interfaces in the Topology tab."
* The same message may also appear after cancelling out of the edit and opening the gateway object without an edit.

## Cause

One or both of these causes the problem:

* The IPSec VPN blade is enabled on the Security Gateway even though the Security Gateway does not participate in a VPN community.
* There is an incorrect configuration in the Security Gateway's interface topology.
