## Solution

#### To connect to Check Point appliances over serial console port:

1. Fully disconnect the power from the appliance.

**Important:** The power must stay fully disconnected for at least 1-2 minutes before proceeding. The power needs to drain from all the capacitors.
2. Connect a computer to the ***console*** port on the appliance (use the serial console cable supplied with the appliance).

3. Configure Serial connection in your console application (PuTTY, HyperTerminal, SecureCRT, MobaXterm, Minicom, etc.).

**Note:** See [sk96246 - Documentation For Check Point Appliances](https://support.checkpoint.com/results/sk/sk96246) for the *Getting Started Guide* for your appliance and the *Home Page SK* where console drivers are linked.

4. Reconnect the power to the appliance.

5. If the console does not respond, press any key on the keyboard. If this does not help, examine the cable and/or settings in your console application.

**Note** - Serial connection might work without reboot, as well.
