## Symptoms

- * No spam is detected although Anti-Spam is enabled on Security Gateway.

Kernel debug ("`fw ctl debug -m fw + mail content`") does not show any spam being detected.

* Issue occurs regardless of configuration of how SMTP traffic should be scanned - "`By Mail Direction`" or "`By IPs`" (SmartDashboard - "Anti-Spam \& Mail" tab - in the left pan, open "Anti-Spam" - open "Advanced" - click on "SMTP")

Issue occurs even when following [sk42727 - How to test if Anti-Spam works properly](https://supportcenter.checkpoint.com/supportcenter/portal?eventSubmit_doGoviewsolutiondetails=&solutionid=sk42727)

## Cause

Manual NAT is configured on Source and Destination in the same rule, which causes direction matching problem. These SMTP connections are treated as outgoing and not as incoming. As a result, the original IP addresses are not matched to the NATed IP addresses.
