# sk107712 - Status of VPN tunnels on ClusterXL is 'Down' in SmartView Monitor

## Symptoms

- * Status of VPN tunnels on ClusterXL is '`Down`' in SmartView Monitor.

* The VPN tunnels are physically up and traffic is passing as expected.

* The VPN kernel table on some of the members does not show any entries:  

  `[Expert@HostName]# fw tab -t tnlmon_life_sign -u`

* Output of '`fw ctl pstat`' command on the problematic cluster member shows:  

  `Sync: off`

## Cause

SmartView Monitor calculates the VPN tunnel status by querying all cluster members.

When the Sync between clusters is off, the Check Point kernel tables are not synchronized. Therefore, the cluster members with disabled Sync will report VPN tunnels as 'Down' (not established).
