## Solution

This solution will guide you in adding or removing an Elastic Network Interface (ENI) to a Check Point Security Gateway in Amazon Web Services (AWS).

The Check Point Security Gateway in AWS does not support a hot attach or a detach of a network interface.

Check Point Security Gateway in AWS supports attaching/detaching an interface when the instance is either stopped (a warm attach), or is being launched (cold attach).

To perform a warm attach:

1. Shutdown the instance.
2. From AWS CLI or WebUI, attach the interface.
3. Start the instance.
4. Set up the interface from either Gaia Clish, or the Gaia Portal.

To perform a warm detach:

1. Shutdown the instance.
2. Detach the interface.
3. Start the instance.

In SmartDashboard, open the the Security Gateway's properties and update its network topology to reflect these changes, and install the security policy on the Security Gateway.
