## Symptoms

- Although the Management Server is configured to create e-mail notifications or alerts after policy installation (per [sk38929](http://supportcontent.checkpoint.com/solutions?id=sk38929)), no e-mails or alerts are generated.

## Cause

The "Logging and Status" blade is disabled in the Security Management Server object.

## Solution

Follow these steps in SmartConsole:

1. Open the Security Management Server object.
2. Enable the **Logging and Status** blade.
3. Install the database on the Security Management Server.

**Note:**Alerts and emails are generated only when the Logging and Status blade is enabled. After you enable the Logging and Status Blade on the Security Management Server, Security Gateways continue to send their logs to the same destinations.
