# sk106021 - "Java is unavailable" error in Google Chrome when trying to use SSL Network Extender (SNX), Secure Workspace and the Endpoint Compliance scanner

## Symptoms

- * "`Java is unavailable`" error in Google Chrome:

  * When the user attempts to launch SSL Network Extender (Network or Application mode)
  * When Mobile Access portal attempts to invoke the Endpoint Compliance scanner and the Secure Workspace on Windows
* The issue started after an upgrade to Google Chrome 42 on Windows OS, or upgrade to Google Chrome 35 on Linux OS.

* The same functionality works well if using Chrome from older builds, or using other browsers such as Internet Explorer or Firefox.

## Cause

NPAPI (Netscape Plug-in API) is a cross-platform plugin architecture used by many web browsers, also serving the Check Point Deployment Agent that is used to deploy SNX, Secure Workspace and the Compliance Scanner.

Google has removed NPAPI support from Chrome. Hence, (starting with version 42 on Windows OS and version 35 on Linux OS), NPAPI is disabled by default in Chrome, effectively dropping support for the Check Point Deployment Agent.

## Solution

**Mobile Access Hotfix Downloads for Chrome and FireFox are available for Windows and Linux.**

**Notes**:

* In order to download some of the packages you will need to have a [Software Subscription or Active Support plan](http://www.checkpoint.com/services/techsupport/index.html).
* This hotfix can be installed **only**on top of R77.30 Jumbo Hotfix take 205
* Deployment with CPUSE is not available.

The following ***workarounds*** are also available:

* Use alternative browsers which still have NPAPI enabled. (i.e., Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari).
* Use SNX command line.

  **Note:** This solution is designated for Linux and Mac OS X users that use SNX without Mobile Access blade.
