## Symptoms

- Customer has regular service blades that are about to expire and he has renewed with Enterprise Based Protections (CPEBP-NGTP). The contracts are showing expired or about to expire and not taking into account the EBP.

## Cause

With the introduction of Multi-Year service blade renewals, the software was updated to calculate the farthest renewal date and handle co-termed contract activations, as if these were one long contract.

For example, if a customer purchased CPSB-IPS-L-1Y (IPS for 1 year) valid December 25, 2015 and CPSB-IPS-L-3Y (IPS for 3 years) valid to December 25 2018, the "Contract Coverage" in the output of the "cplic print" command should show only the CPSB-IPS-L-3Y contracts expiring on December 25, 2018.

With Enterprise Based Support, however, if you had CPSB-IPS-L-1Y valid December 25, 2015 and CPSB-EBP-IPS for the remaining 3 years, the software would report an expiration date of December 25, 2015 until the EBP contract officially started.

**As a result, the CPSB-EBP contracts will not show in the cplic print "Contract Coverage" until the actual activation date.**

## Solution

Available options:

* If the customer is willing to wait, the software should activate the EBP contracts according to the activation date, as long as the contracts are updated into SmartUpdate, even if they don't show in the repository. SmartUpdate will generally only show current contracts until the contract starts.
* Apply a 30-day evaluation license until the contracts are due to start. For periods longer than 30-days, the customer should contact their reseller or account manager for assistance.
