## Symptoms

- Status of Multi-Domain Log Server in SmartDomain Manager is 'Disconnected' after performing in-place upgrade.

## Cause

During the upgrade, the contents of the *$MDSDIR/conf/mdsdb/mdss.C* file prior to the upgrade was removed and was replaced with "()".

## Solution

Follow these steps:

1. Connect to command line on Multi-Domain Log Server.

2. Log in to Expert mode.

3. Stop Check Point services in the MDS context:

   **`[Expert@HostName]# mdsstop -m`**

4. Copy the **`$MDSDIR/conf/mdsdb/mdss.C`** file from the Multi-Domain Security Management Server and place on the Multi-Domain Log Server in **`$MDSDIR/conf/mdsdb/`** directory.

5. Start Check Point services in the MDS context:

   **`[Expert@HostName]# mdsstart -m`**

6. The status in the SmartDomain Manager should show '`Started`' within a couple minutes.
