## Symptoms

- * Both nodes running Gaia VRRP are showing as being in master/master state. Network communication is good and the priority, delta, and IPs are correct. You can push the policy successfully and License is OK.
* Running TCP dump shows on Node 1 : ethertype IPv4, IP x.x.x.x\> vrrp.mcast.net:VRRPv2, Advertisement, vrid x, prio x, authetype simple, intvl xs, length 20 and on Node= 2 : ethertype IPv4, IP x.x.x.x\> vrrp.mcast.net:VRRPv2, Advertisement, vrid x, prio x, authetype none, intvl xs, length 20

## Cause

There is a mismatch in the Authentication method used for VRRP advertisement packets. If you check the interface settings from the WebUI (High Availability \> VRRP) on each node, Node 1 has the Authentication set to 'Simple' and there's a password, on Node 2, the Authentication for the same interface has been set to 'None'
