## Symptoms

- SmartView Tracker / SmartLog does not show any logs from IPS protection "DNS Tunneling", although the protection was configured to "Detect" or "Prevent" and generate a log.

## Cause

The IPS protection "DNS Tunneling" (which is applicable only to Security Gateway R77.30 and above) depends on a definition in the*$FWDIR/lib/traps.h* file on the Security Management Server / Domain Management Server.

In some upgrade scenarios to R77.30, the original *traps.h* file (the one before the upgrade) might not be replaced by the new *traps.h* file. This can happen, for example, when the original *traps.h* file was manually edited.

Since the *traps.h* file was not replaced during an upgrade, the required definition is missing. As a result, this IPS protection does not work as expected.
