# sk102988 - 'monitord' and 'confd' processes consume 100% CPU

## Symptoms

- * Output of '`top`' command shows that *monitord* and *confd* processes consume CPU at 100%.

* "`monitord[]: time shift detected !!!`" appears repeatedly in */var/log/messages* file.

## Cause

Issue occurs while there is a relatively big monitor database and medium-high CPU load, which leads to a wrongly calculated check for time shift.

When there is a time shift, the OS performs a very costly update of the whole database, which causes a high CPU utilization by *monitord* process.
