# sk101786 - SmartEvent does not receive new events and shows "No connection to correlation unit"

## Symptoms

- * SmartEvent does not receive new events.

* SmartEvent GUI shows in Status field:

  `No connection to correlation unit`
* Output of '`cpstat cpsead`' command shows:

  ```
  
  Process is alive:   1
  Connected to SEM:   0
  Logs Processed:     0
  No Free Disk Space: 0
  Process Status:     0
  Short Description:  Not connected to SEM
  Long Description:   Event distributor is not connected.
  ```

## Cause

When you connect with SmartEvent GUI to a newly installed SmartEvent server, you will not receive new events and you will see the "No connection to correlation unit" error, until you install Event Policy.

When you add an additional Log Server, you will not receive new events and you will see the "No connection to correlation unit" error on the additional Log Server, until you install Event Policy.

When Smartevent is not configured from Smartevent Dashboard and SmartEvent policy is not installed.
