# sk101559 - Policy installation fails with the error "policy commit function was unsuccessful due to timeout"

## Symptoms

- * Install policy with IPS pattern granularity and A profile, or with manual profile, fails due to timeout when using IPS recommended protections or custom profile.  

* Kernel debug on gateway while installing policy shows:

  ```
  
  Failed to Load Security Policy: Invalid argument
  .
  .
  kiss_pm_validate: sm_handle is NOT valid;
  fwk_atomic_load: fwk_cmi_prepare failed;
  fwk_free_services_array: Array is already empty;
  fwk_kbufs_free: called (with 7175 kbufs);
  FW-1: fw_kfree: memory already freed at 0xcd35b008. caller is 'fwk_cmi_free' sz=3224;
  sd_rulebase_cleanup: freeing sdrulebase - 10 sd rule id groups at 0xde3b781c;
  fw_rules_uid_cleanup: free fw_rules_uid - size = 0;
  free_new_av_match: is called
  ```

* Policy installation from Security Management fails with:

  ```
  
  "policy commit function was unsuccessful due to timeout"
  "Installation failed. Reason: Load on Module failed - failed to load Security Policy."
  ```

* Fetching policy debug on the gateway shows:

  ```
  
  fwk_atomic_load: fwk_cmi_prepare failed
  .
  In fwa_vrfy_db restore = -1
  .
  fw_atomic_download: FWATOMICLOAD 40047a03
  ```

## Cause

When activating many protections at once or switching between profiles, the commit function on the gateway side times out.
