# sk100566 - Gaia OS clean install from USB device fails

## Symptoms

- Gaia OS clean install from USB device fails on Open Server or Check Point Appliance. The messages indicate that installer has included the USB device as part of the installation partition, and attempts to format the drive (`/dev/sda2`).

## Cause

Gaia OS installer (Anaconda) includes the USB installation media as part of the installation target. There is no way to "un-select" the USB drive from the target drive list.

## Solution

This problem was fixed. The fix is included starting from:

* [Check Point R81.20 (Titan)](https://support.checkpoint.com/results/sk/sk170416)

Check Point recommends to always upgrade to the most recent version

If you choose not to upgrade, Check Point can supply a **Hotfix** . [Contact Check Point Support](https://www.checkpoint.com/support-services/contact-support/) to get a Hotfix for this issue.  
A Support Engineer will make sure the Hotfix is compatible with your environment before providing the Hotfix.
