# sk1000016 - Incorrect RX/TX Traffic Statistics Reported for VLAN Interfaces in UPPAK Mode

## Symptoms

- * SNMP monitoring reports an incorrect throughput rate for VLAN interfaces. The reported values are significantly lower than the actual traffic rate and the corresponding parent physical interface.

<!-- -->

* The RX packet and byte counters on VLAN interfaces do not accumulate, or accumulate much more slowly than expected, when viewed using standard network utilities such as `ifconfig` or `ethtool`.

* CPView displays incorrect traffic statistics for VLAN interfaces.
  `CPView > Network > Interfaces > Traffic`
  * The RX throughput on the VLAN interface remains close to zero or is significantly lower than the actual traffic rate.
  * The TX counters continue to increase; however, the reported throughput and accumulated values are lower than the actual traffic traversing the VLAN interface.
    ![cpview vlan interface](https://static.checkpoint.com/apps/sk/1000016/0619a220-9791-449e-9d12-00a8a4d83c2e.jpg)
* If SecureXL is disabled or the Security Gateway is switched to `KPPAK` mode, the VLAN interface statistics begin accumulating normally. The reported RX/TX traffic on the VLAN interface then closely matches the traffic observed on the corresponding parent physical interface.

## Cause

In SecureXL `UPPAK` mode, RX and TX traffic statistics are not reported correctly for VLAN
interfaces. As a result, the interface counters and throughput values displayed
by monitoring tools (such as `SNMP`, `CPView`, `ifconfig`, and `ethtool`) may be lower
than the actual traffic traversing the VLAN interface.

## Solution

This problem was fixed. The fix is included starting from:

* [Check Point Quantum R82.10](https://support.checkpoint.com/results/sk/sk183506)
* [Jumbo Hotfix Accumulator for R81.20](https://sc1.checkpoint.com/documents/Jumbo_HFA/R81.20/Default.htm) starting from Take 158

Check Point recommends to always upgrade to the [Recommended version](https://support.checkpoint.com/results/sk/sk95746) ([Security Gateway](https://support.checkpoint.com/product/73) / [VSX](https://support.checkpoint.com/product/359) / [Security Management Server](https://support.checkpoint.com/product/184) / [Multi-Domain Security Management Server](https://support.checkpoint.com/product/166) / [SmartConsole](https://support.checkpoint.com/product/191)).

If you choose not to upgrade, [contact Check Point Support](https://www.checkpoint.com/support-services/contact-support/) to get a Hotfix for your version.

A Support Engineer will make sure the Hotfix is compatible with your environment before providing it.
